The only real competition I'm seeing is from SwitchVox (also asterisk, but a closed distrobution). I'm still not 100% certain I will be going with asterisk, but its starting to look more like it by the day. Personally, I don't think a lot of these decisions are easy. I'm in the same boat you are, and I've been evaluating much of the same things you are. Elastix is a solid solution that you can install and then never have to deal with the underlying systems for anything day to day. I personally prefer the PBiaF solution for myself, but I never recommend it for a client because my clients have no on site IT staff. They have always had phenomenal support behind them. I think PiaF is the best balance of easy to use, but more powerful as you become more advanced with Asterisk.įor telephony cards, you might check the Sangoma brand of PRI cards. One can better tailor Asterisk to your needs with the PiaF distro, for adding such things as IMAP voicemail, Asterisk Fax module, or DPMA (if you end up using Digium Phones). I tend to use the PBX in a Flash (PiaF) distro as it compiles Asterisk and other modules at install and recompiles when upgrading using scripts. I learned my lessons back in the Trixbox days that if you want to compile some non-standard functionality into Asterisk, you will be breaking the rpm based upgrade scheme. Speaking to your choice of distro, I avoid rpm based distros like Elastix. We would like to build our own PBX that will use some Asterisk based distribution and my questions is: We need t grow to approximately 120 ~130 extension and 30 concurrent calls. Our organization currently use some hybrid Panasonic pbx that use PRI and can handle 20 concurrent calls and manage 96 lines ext. To have progress in my mission i need to do some home work ,and cover some critical/essential points.
